Safelight Mode on iPhone
The Safelight button in the nav bar switches the display to red-only light. For the best experience on iPhone, you can also enable iOS Color Filters to turn the entire screen — including the status bar clock and icons — pure red:
- Set up the filter: Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Color Filters. Turn on, select "Color Tint", drag Hue all the way to red and Intensity to maximum.
- Add a shortcut: Settings → Accessibility → Accessibility Shortcut (at the bottom). Check "Color Filters".
- Toggle it: Triple-click the side button to instantly switch the color filter on or off.
This stacks with the in-app safelight mode for a fully red display with no white light leaks.
Note: Safelight mode is experimental and is not guaranteed to be safe for any given black-and-white paper. Always test with your specific materials before relying on it in the darkroom.
